Typeface selection, why?

Three different typeface selections to signify
each type of reader.

 - Large pointsize
 - Relatively small amount of information
 - attention grabbing words used

 - Confident and past paced but not rushed.

Three forms of reader

It's important I classify my three different types
of reader as effectively as possible, in order to
assign the correct attributes to different areas of the
grid.

The grid for all of the publications will have to be

tailored to each individual reader in one place.  It
has to truthfully and respectfully represent these
readers in order to successfully solve the problem.

The scan below identifies the three types of reader
and what attributes the type and layout will need
to incorporate in order to represent this effective
intake of information.

Visual reader.

Laconic reader.

Acute reader.

'Books Still?'

A relevant extension to my past brief: 'Lyrical Extension.'

'Cerebral Extension'
The reason behind this name came from the concept alongside
the content which <<EDUCATE<<<.  The problem I have decided to solve:
Everyone 'reads' differently.  My definition of 'read' meaning
'effectively receiving information of a literary kind.'

Again, the idea behind this project is to educate.
Unlike Lyrical Extension- with a focus on the rhyme, rhythm and
emotion behind the visualisation of poetry, Cerebral Extension
focuses on classic excerpts from well known essays through the
ages- deconstructing the overarching ideas behind them,
detatching the emotion from the work.  With more a reflection
and debate on the content in front of them, rather than a
personal thought process.

There will be a live reading of the excerpt- alongside a projection
of relevant information, and a physical handout of the spoken text.

The aim of the event is to make you think, not just listen.
- this is mainly where the physical hand out comes into its own.
i.e.

Group 1 within the grid represent a
certain type of reader.  This area of
the grid will be utilised for example,
with smaller point size and summative
statements.

Group 2 will be first in the visual
heirarchy.  The more 'lazy' reader will
see this content first and perhaps
give up on the rest of the text.  Relying
on the spoken word rather than the type.

Group 3 will pay more attention to the
heavy body copy, trying to understand
before they hear the speaker.  Like a
child in class who reads ahead

Final artwork

The final image used for the Physics artwork.
The square format aids in making the figure
look a lot larger than it actually is.

The figure perfectly personifies the band,

the track, the ep, their visuals, their sound.

Me and Luke are extremely happy with it,
not only because we are personally proud of
the final outcome, but how it has been received
by the client.
Initially, the artwork was going to be used for the
single cover, but they were so happy with it that
they decided to use it as their upcoming EP cover.

Design for print: session 2

Consistent & efficient approach to large format InDesign folders.
Text formatting.
Formatting paragraphs of text.

To show how the text has been formatted before:

When formatting text always have hidden characters
turned on.  Useful for collaborating.  i.e.  SPUR publication.

Working with space between paragraphs:

Double check, then click 'change all' if applicable.

No need to select text.  Works within the whole paragraph.
Anything applied works with whole paragraph.

Indent:

Drop Caps:

Inverted text:

   'Keep options.':
BODY TEXT WOULD NEVER BE SEPARATE FROM THE HEADING.
        - remember for SPUR publication.

Tabs; tabbing; tab tab tab:

Standard tab: left alligned.

   SOFT RETURN:
next line formatting.  Still stay within the same paragraph.
   SHIFT + RETURN

Save formatting as a paragraph style:
Essentially a shortcut for long text files.

Apply shortcut.  In this case:
cmd + num 1.
  - allows for global changes across document.
